During the years while Collier was Landlord there were many people evicted. He put up the rent of the houses so that the poor people were not able to pay it.
One day an old woman who was very ill and was after having the priest was carried out of her house and left (ar) on the street. She died.
A few weeks later Mr Collier was riding on horseback. When he was about to get off the horse he fell and broke his leg. People say that was what he got for putting the poor woman out on the street.
