  1. There are two forges in the parish.
    John King and Tommy Kerr are the smiths.
    There people have been smiths for many years.
    Both of the forges are situated near the cross roads. The forges has two windows and two doors. The door are big and wide, each opens in the middle. The roof of the forge is of felt and boards. The implements the smith uses at his his work are the anvil and a sledge.
    The smith shoes horses and asses in the forges. They do not shoe cattle. The smith makes farm implements such as ploughs, harrows, spades, and shovels. The special type of work is shoeing horses, and repairing farm implements. There are parts of the forge work done in the open air, as shoeing cart wheels. In all the smiths' shops some of the work is done in the open air. There is a local belief with regards to forge water, it takes away warts. The smiths has no special privilges at any times. The people did not send them gifts. The smiths had no power to banish rats. The smiths were always looked upon as being very strong men.
