  1. Years ago, when the Castle was standing and in a good state, visitors from Kilkee often came out during the Summer and especially on Sunday evenings. Picnics and entertainments were often held there by strangers who were on holidays in Kilkee.The boys of the neighbourhood usually came to see the fun and often the strangers threw a few coins amongst the boys, and enjoyed looking at them pushing and fighting for the coins.
    The boys often went bathing in a quiet palce near the Castle.
    On one occasion, three or four boys were bathing there and they saw two gentlemen standing on the cliff above them. The boys
