- (ar lean ón leathanach roimhe)were kept down by the Landlords. The landlords treated them more or less as dirt. they would not speak to them except in a commanding voice. The poor people had to put their in hands in their hats for them, every place they meet. When they worked for the landlords they got very bad pay,
Tithes were collected in this parish. A week or so before they were gathered a notice used to be posted up the door of Kilkeedy Protestant church. A man named Frank Conole from Kilfenora used go from house to house gathering them. Money he always collected. The money used go to pay the parsons.
