  1. According to Ed. Griffen Ballinulty, Cullen, a large quantity of gold was buried in the bog of Cullen by the Danes. The gold was buried in Firkins deep down in the bog. Some of the gold was later dug up by people in the district, and they became very rich.
Some eighty years ago, a chalice was dug out of a moate in Glenbane (parish of Lattin). It was known for a long time before that the chalice was there, but the local people were afraid to interfere with the moate. They approached the local P.P., who proceeded to the moate and dug the first sod himself. The men then dug the moate and after awhile discovered the chalice.
The moat referred to is situated in the lands of David O'Connell townland of Glenbane.
