James Maher Oakvale – William Doherty and his two sons all found plenty of employment in this district up to the introduction of the creamery. In summer making firkins and in winter making coolers for milk. There is no cooper in the district now. All our industry at the present time helping the foreigner.

There is no dressmaker for miles around this district, their place is supplied by readymades from some foreign country. - The best known thatchers were:-
William Slattery Shevre Thurles
John Ryan Knockmaroe Milestone Thurles.
