  1. Long ago people ate four meals a day. the breakfast, dinner, tea and supper.
    The breakfast was eaten after eight o'clock. The dinner was served at twelve o'clock. The tea was drank at four o'clock and the supper at eight o'clock. The breakfast consisted of brown bread, butter, tea and eggs. The dinner consisted of potatoes, cabbage and bacon. The tea consisted of tea, bread and butter. Porridge or cocoa for the supper. Potatoes were eaten at dinner and sometimes for the supper. Buttermilk or skim milk was drank with them. The people sat round the table in the centre of the floor. Tables were hung on the walls by chains when not in use.
    The bread that was eaten was wheaten bread. Meat was only ate for dinner. Bacon was the most generally eaten. Fish was eaten on Friday. The vegtables eaten were cabbage, carrots, parsnips and onions.
    People ate late at night about ten o'clock.
    Certain customs attach to some of the feastdays egg-eating on Easter Sunday. The vessels used before cups became common were cow horns.
