- My father remembers the tragic death of his Uncle Gerry Dwyer. He was killed on the 4th of November in the year 1899. One day Gerry went to Nenagh to a fair. It was eleven o'clock in the night when Gerry was going home. When he was going up at Bollingbrook School the horse and cart was turned over. People say it was a Fairy Blast turned it. Gerry was caught under the cart and he remained there until next morning. Tom Ryan of Dolla, my Grandfather, got him under the cart. Gerry lived in Foildubh in the mountains. He was my Grand Uncle. I never passed that place on the road without saying "The Lord have Mercy" on Jerry.
