- (ar lean ón leathanach roimhe)Bridge. The house owned by Mr. John Devane is called the great house still, because it was the residence of Lloyds. There is an old house near it which is disused now, and it is called the "Barrack", because the Lloyds had always paid soldiers there to protect them. The tree on which Harry Ryan was hanged is still called "Crann Harry". There are fields in Mr. Devane's land called the "rabbit burrow ". It appears that when the estate was in its hey-day, this place abounded with rabbits, and the name of Rabbit burrow still remains.
The field which adjoins Towerhill graveyard is still called the Church-yard field.- Bailitheoir
