  1. Rory O'Moore in Limerick
    The success of the Yellow Ford roused the men of Munster and many of them rose in open revolt against the queen. Sir Peter de Lacey of Bruff invited the celebrated Rory O'Moore to Limerick. O'Moore having consulted O'Neill decided to come and despite a show of opposition from O'Ruiond arrived safely in Limerick.
    Sir Thomas Norris marched to Kilmallock to attack him but was obliged to retire to Cork leaving a garrison behind him and his rearguard was roughly handled by the forced of O'Moore.
    The success of O'Moore produced a universal rising of the noble men of Munster but the Earls of Hiosond and O'Ruiond and The Baron of Kichiquinn did not rise in the revolt. Three Geraldine chiefs, the Knights of Kerry, The Knight of Glynne and the White Knight joined in the revolt. O'Neill placed James a son of Thomas Fitzgerald, surnamed the Kid and nephew of the late Earl of Desmond known as the Tugan Earl at the head of the force.
