- (ar lean ón leathanach roimhe)Miodac at his palace the Bruideann Caortainn of the story. The palace was situated at the ford of the Maigue, the first ford on the river above the Shannon beside the present bridge of Adare. On the site of this palace the Geraldines in the 13th century built one of their castles, the ruins of which still stands beside the bridge. The old moat and bailey of the pre-Norman fort as still visible. Only a few yards up the river are the ruins of a Franciscan monastery. The final destruction of the monastery took place in 1646. One of the last surviving Friars Fr. O'Hickey in a poem he composed as a lament for the burning of the Abbey identifies this place with the old Druideann Caortainn.It was here that Miodac(leanann ar an chéad leathanach eile)
