  1. The Local Roads. 9-5-1938
In former times there were not as many roads in the district as there are now. The road from Kildimo to Limerick, a distance of nine miles, was known as the "Cashel Road". It was called the Cashel road because there was a Cashel at the side of the road about a mile from Kildimo.
The road from Ballyinacarriga to Limerick, a distance of ten miles was known as "Faha Road". These roads were made in the eighteenth century. Some of the local roads are used in this district yet. The road from Kildimo to Limerick long ago was the main road to Limerick. The olden roads are not as good as the roads now. The olden roads were made with stones and earth.
The road from Ballyvareen to Kildimo, a distance of a mile was known as the "Bog Road". It was called that because there was a bog at the side of the road.
The road from Stonehall to Old Kildimo was known as the "Old Road". That road is still used for drawing timber. The people in the famine period used to get work on the road and the payment was potatoes and corn, which they used to get every week from the government and sometimes they used to get a shilling a week.
