There are many signs of the weather in this country. Long ago when there were no barometers the people could tell what kind of weather they were going to have, by the sky and the animals. The daily paper gives an account of the weather each day and is generally always right.
Some of the signs of the weather are;- the wind blowing from the south is the sign of rain, and the north wind is the sign of fine weather. Cows lie down before rain to keep a dry patch on the ground, and when cows dont lie down it is the sign of a storm. Bees go to their hives before stormy weather, and if a donkey roars it is the sign of rain. Rain is probable when geese fly, and storms are probable(leanann ar an chéad leathanach eile)- Bailitheoir
