- Records of the Manor are abundant from 1276, when Maurice Fitzmaurice granted it to his son-in-law, Thomas De Clare at the rent of a soar hawk.A weekly market was established in 1284. The manor was held by R. De Clifford in 1844 and by T. De Clifford in 1889.The church was destroyed in 1309 and it was rebuilt and dedicated to the Purification in February 1410.Mc Eniry build his castle in 1349. The tribe was confirmed on its lands 1605. Confiscated in 1688. Purchased by Captain Conyer in 1705.The church is 120 feet long, inside walls 3½ feet thick, 4 feet wide and 14 feet high. The East window is of red sandstone with a mullion of seven blocks. Two high round headed lights, a small slit beside it to the north.
