when the weather is going to be wet the falling water sounds like a churn when it is going round and that is how it got its name, "Poll na Meiore". When a bunch of ants start flying it is a bad sign of the weather. When the smoke ascends straight from the chimney, it is the sign of good weather. "A wild wet and stormy May fills the barn with oats and hay".
