  1. The local landlord was Lord Devon. His first name was Courtney but when he got the Devon estate his name was changed to Lord Devon. He was born in Devonchire in England and spent most of his life there. He had rent agents in every parish and he used to visit them once a year to collect the rent.
    His agent in this parish was a man by the name of Curling. He was a very good man
