    times with sea-weed and then with bag manure and the potatoes are then planted and the drills are closed. After six weeks or more the stalks of the potatoes begin to appear. When the stalks are well above the ground earth is put to them with plough. When the potatoes are sown for three or four months the crows often visit the field where they are sown and the farmer erects a man in field but after a few days the crows get so clever that they perch on his head.
    The potatoes are dug in October or early in September. They are ploughed first. Three or four men or boys follow who ever is ploughing them and pick them in buckets. Then they are put into bags and carried to the barn where they are left till wanted. Some people take them to the market in Midleton and often get a good price for them.
