  1. The potato crop is one of the commonest crops grown in this district. An acre or an acre and a half is usually grown. In some places two and three acres are grown by the farmer who has contracts with merchants in Cork.
    When the farmer is preparing the ground he spring harrows it first to kill the weeds. Then he ploughs it and harrows it again and if the earth is lumpy it is rolled to make it fine.
