THE CROSSFrom the above story originated Cros Naoim Bríghde. The custom of making a cross of rushes and pegging it against the interior of the roof as a protection against fire, lightning etc. was practised throughout the country, and is still practised in Gaelic centres. Some of the crosses are very artistic, illustrations of them may be seen in Thom's "Voice of Ireland" Reader and real specimens are in the National Museum.
