- It is said if people get married on a Friday, they will be hungry all their lives, because they can get no proper breakfast on that day.
It is a common belief that one should not cut one's hair on a Monday because it is said that ill-health would set in, and one would be delicate for the remainder of one's life, hence, all barber's shops are closed on that day.
If eggs are hatched in June, the chickens will be delicate, and will not survive.
It is considered very unlucky to go into the cow-house at midnight on Christmas Eve, because at that hour the animals have power of speech, and are glorifying their Redeemer, and anyone who hears them will drop dead.
On the 24th of June every farmer in this locality, lights a fire, over which the cows must leap(leanann ar an chéad leathanach eile)
