  1. Ballymacphilip Castle
Ballymacphilip Castle is two miles south of Ballyhooly.
It is owned by Philip Roche.
It was built in the twelfth century, and was occupied till the seventeenth century.
It is now a ruin and only one wall is to be seen.
There is a beautiful view from the top of it.
When Cromwell came he attacked the Castle and killed the people who were inside it numbering one hundred and fifty between men, women, and children. The blood is still to be seen.
There is a stream beside the Castle.
There was a battle fought at a shallow part of it called "Ath na Coimhiscir" [?] between Cromwell and the Roches.
    Cromwell won.
There is a bridge across the stream.
There is a room in the Castle.
From the window of it the enemy could be seen coming.
There is no use made of the ford now because there is a bridge across the stream.
The present occupier of it is Mr John Roche.
