    In the time of the black and tans many people in this district were out fighting.

    In the time of the black and Tans many people in this district were out fighting. The Black and Tan soldiers were very hard cruel men. If a man saw them coming and ran he would be shot but if he stood they would not do anything to him.
    One day a man saw a crowd of them coming and he ran. They saw him running and they followed him to shoot him. He had a rifle and he threw it down in a furze brake. Then he stooped down and ran along so that the soldiers could not see him. He ran in that way for two miles. When he stopped he vomited blood and he died about a month after
