The families of the tinker class travel in waggons built by themselves with an iron pipe as chimney. Those are gaily painted. Strings of old ponies and donkeys travel with them with an occasional goat and several old terriers which they try to sell. The old donkeys which are lively for a few days are swopped and a tinker must always get boot. They can change the appearance of a donkey or a horse in a week. In the night time they turn those into the fields next the road. When the family is large they build little triangular camps with canvas for the family. They only stay a night in each place and when they leave they let a legacy of old boots and clothes after them. Sometimes they travel in bands.
