  1. Many superstitious beliefs still exist among the Irish people with regard to May day. All these are old pagan customs some of which have died out. People believe that the produce of their milk is taken away by Pishedogues. If they see a neighbour in the yard on May day morning they saw they are working Pisheouges and taking away their milk.
    Some people put the tank of milk into a house on May eve lest anyone should do anything to their milk. When taking it to the creamery they put a pinch of salt as they think the salt has the power of stopping the
