   The chief wild birds that are found in our district are the crow, the gull, the yellow-hammer, the pipeen, the robin, the wren, the ladywagtail, the swallow, the cuckoo, the thrush, the blackbird, and the wild duck.
   The swallow and the cuckoo migrate to foreign countries when the weather is cold in Ireland. The crow builds its nest on the top of a tree. The yellow hammer and the bullfinch build their nests in briars. The pipeen builds its nest on the grass. The ladywagtail builds its nest under a stone. The gull builds its nest on the top of a rock. The linnet and the wren build their nests in bushes. The wild duck builds its nest down by the water's edge.
   The nest and eggs of most birds are round. The birds sit on the eggs about three weeks. Any
