   example of the old clay walls. It was once as big as the castle and they had huge big fireplaces in it. James Butler of Gurranefeen Kilbrittain said that about 100 years ago his father saw it like that. They used to bring salt up the channel in boats to that house and sell it there. When Moloney bought it from some big Protestant he sold any of the stones that were in the walls at so much a load for the roads.
   O'Brien and O'Leary worked the salt house for years. They made salt there by evaporating the sea water. There was a shore for letting out the condensed water which came off the salt. When rock salt became known it was brought in there in boats and sold. Coal was also brought in there and sold by the O'Briens and O'Leary's about 100 years ago.
