    Particulars of a famous local mower:-
    There lives a man, away out by the Mizen Head, named Elias Roycroft.
    He is now over seventy years of age, and retired from farming, though still hale and strong. When he was a young man, over forty years ago, one fine day in June he met a neighbour, and they talked of the hay cutting, and Mr Roycroft bet that he would have his hay cut before him. So, accordingly they started off next day, after an early breakfast, with their scythes, to the hayfield. All the long day, Mr Roycraft toiled, and before evening he had mown an acre and a half of hay. Next day, he was up early and before nightfall he had mown another acre and a half and on the third day, feeling as fresh, as ever he easily cut nearly two acres more. He easily finished mowing the last field on the fourth day, having mown six acres in all, in four days.
    He then went over in the evening to see how his neighbour had got on,
