  1. Rabharach Breac was a herb which was supposed originally to cure all diseases, but the devil came and ate the heart out of it and so rendered it useless. The plant can be found in this district and looks always as if the heart had been eaten out of it.
    Crotal for the curing erysipelas or blood-poisoning
    Luibh an bruinne Dhearg - for murrain in cattle
    Cos Dubh for liver trouble can be found in walls of bridges or old domain walls.
    Rib-leaf for stopping blood
    Yarrow for rheumatic pains and liver troubles
    Bainne caoin - (spurge) the roots of this plant are pounded flat and used in poisoning rivers.
    Bainne cioch na h-can. (Hemblane) The berries are very poisonous and are mistaken by young children for whortle-berries.
    Penny-leaf was one the herbs used in making a plaster to cure boils.
