   the table placed in the centre of the floor. Hard oaten bread was the kind of bread eaten. It was generally baked on a griddle and was usually cut into 'farrels'. Little meat or vegetables. Several wild things which grew out in the fields were eaten, such as 'vetches' and watercress. Long ago some old people always ate a big feed before retiring, it being a habit.
