- There are three forges in the parish two of which are situated in the townland of Camlough, and one in the townland of Onagh. The smiths are P. Grehan Camlough and Andrew Grehan Onagh who are brothers and John Grehan, Camlough, who is a cousin.Their people have been smiths, it is said, for countless years. All the forges are situated by the public roads. John Grehan's forge being near a cross-roads. The forge is a fair size building of stone and mortar. It has a slated roof. The door is divided into two halves so that one half is equal to a kitchen half-door. There is one fireplace.The smith uses a hammer, sledge, saw, hatchet, chisel and so forth in his work. He shoes horses and asses, but not cattle.The smiths make some farm implements, harrows and hay rakes(continues on next page)
