Thatching
Thatching is usually made from wheaten straw and scollops, but it is said that rye straw is better The straw is pulled carefully having all the blades straight. The thatcher starts at the eave of the house and puts on a row of straw to keep it on he puts a scollip across it. Then he bends two more scollips and puts them down over they other one to keep it on. He continues on until he comes to the top of the house. He puts bobbings on the top and this is called the rigging. he finishes it by evening off the straw at the(leanann ar an chéad leathanach eile)
