Ar an leathanach seo

  1. May day falls on the 1st of May. It is the custom to put up a may bush over the door. Another custom is to get up early and go out and wash your face in the dew. Then when they would have their faces washed with the dew they would say:-
    "We hope that blight or ban may not enter out homes until May day came once more."
    That was an old saying.

    Another custom is not to give away sour milk on that day or you would have no luck. Another custom is go get up early on May morning and get a piece of clay and milk somebody's cow and bring the milk into where you have the churn left, and bring it round the churn three or four times and that person will not have any butter for the year.
