   If you lose your wedding ring you are sure to meet with some misfortune. My grandmother lost her wedding ring in a field of oats where she was binding sheaved and her husband died shortly after. When a corpse was about to be carried out for burial, every stool chair and seat in the house had to be turned upside down. If the farmer has not his oats sown before the appearance of the cuckoo, he is late. The old people used to hear the cuckoo saying to the farmer "late moo hoo" of course the cuckoo was only saying "coo, coo" but if the farmer had not the oats in before that he would not sow any that year as it would not grow. If you spend money on New Years day you will be putting out money all that year. But
