- In this district there were some old crafts but they were carried on only under a small scale.
Peter Kelly who is now dead could make poteen but he only made very small quantities of it. He lived in the village of Cloonaheevers, in Fairymount Parish, Co. Roscommon. There is not any poteen made in the townsland now. In the village of Callagh poteen making was carried on until lately. The Garda Shiochana found out about it and the brewers were punished. Long ago poteen was made in a bog which belonged to Mr Meldon in Cloonarrow.
Candles were made from dried rushes. The rushes were soaked in fat so they would last longer. There was not any wholesale manufacture of those candles. Each family made its own supply. There were some basket makers in the district. They made cliabhs and baskets for those who wanted them but they did not depend on(leanann ar an chéad leathanach eile)
