- Some of the ancient customs in this part of the country are, throwing rice on the bride and groom, and throwing an old shoe after them. On the night of the wedding a crowd of young boys assemble together, dress up in straw. On of them who is in charge is called a Sergeant. They then proceed to the house of the bride and they take the bride out to dance; after the groom. It is usually the custom for the groom to ask the straw men to take some refreshments.
