Ar an leathanach seo

  1. John Devoy who died in 1930 lived in the village of Ballyroan. He was a mason by trade but he composed many poems.
    He was about seventy two when he died, and he was buried in Abbeyleix.
    Pat Lodge was also a local poet. He was educated at a nightschool in Mill Lane, Mr. Johnson was the teacher in this school. Pat Lodgelef tthe village about 40 tears ago for America. Here he studied medicine and became a doctor.
    At the time that he wrote the song entitled "Ballyroan" he had no education.
    Tom Mac Mahon, farmer, who still lives in the village aged about 54 composed a few poems
    I shall give copies of Pat Lodge's and Tom MacMahon's poems further out in this book.
