I love the sunny shores of France, I love Italian clime
Where beauty beams or fields and streams, and nature reigns sublime.
I love the Alps, the winding Rhine the classic
But ten times more I do adore the skies in Ballyroan.
    II
The Golden sun ne'er beamed upon a sweeter little town
The furling rill that drives the mill through hazel shades run down
The moat high crowned with noble trees its origin unknown
Got it's silver grave illumes the place for miles round Ballyroan
    III
The chapel spire high over all, points to the crystal sky
The vesper chime proclaims the time of evening worship
Then its home the hearty workman comes his toil of work now flown
With song and cheer and Keenans' beer enlivens Ballyroan
    IV
Oh Ballyroan my own dear home whilst beats this
Irish heart within my breast o you oppressed
    I'll act a brave man's part.
But should I fall for Erin's cause like Emmet and Wolfe Tone [?]
My latest sigh to Heaven on high would be for Ballyroan.
