  1. Travelling people.
    Many old travelling men and women go from house around this parish looking for alms. The one we know best is John Martin. He is not a native of Clonaslee, although he visits this place very often. He sells small things at the houses as he goes along and collects porter bottles. Then he gives the person who gives them to him, a card of pins or something in exchange. He is a native of Tullamore. He does not lodge anywhere, because he has a tent up the mountain.
