- We sow half an acre of potatoes every year, never more never less. Mr.Goeghegan of Tinnahinch ploughs the ground. it is never manured before ploughing. He tills it with a grub and harrow and then makes the drills with the moulding plough, which is the local name for a drill plough. Wooden plough were used here years ago. There are none left now, but some farmers still use "Oliver" ploughs the handles and beam of which are made of timber but the sole plate nib breast and board are made of iron. When the drills are made farmyard manure is shaken in them. About a week before the making of the drills the seed potatoes are cut. At least one eye is left on each cut(leanann ar an chéad leathanach eile)
