- The people round here, especially the older people are fairly good judges of the weather. The following are the principal indicaions of change in the weathera. Signs of Rain
1. South or S.W. wind usually brings rain.
2. The swallows fly low.
3. The soot falls down from the chimney.
4. A large dull circle appears round the moon.
5. The sky becomes covered with dull clouds.
6. A rainbow in the sky in the morning.
7. A pale sunset
8. Insects crawl on the walls or on the floor.
9. The cat sits on the hearth close to the fire.
10. A reddening in the sky towards the South in the morning
11. Crows swooping towards the earth and cawing loudly
12. The wind blowing the dust of the road
13. The far off hills appear to be nearb. Signs of a Storm
1. The clouds become reddish in colour and move quickly
2. The seagulls fly inland
3. The cat scratches his claws on a piece of wood
4. The swallows fly low.
5. When South Wind changes to N.W.
