- (ar lean ón leathanach roimhe)then they are thatched with straw. There are many kinds of potatoes. The early ones are, Flounders, Up-to-Dates, Beauties, and Epicures. The late ones are Arranbanner, Kerpinks, Champions, Skerrie-Champions, Shamrocks and Lienster Wonders. The best variety of potatoes grown in this district are, Kerpinks, Shamrocks, Beauties, Irish Queens, British Queens, and Epicures. Potatoes were often used for starch long ago.
- Nearly in every district the people hold processions on some of the Festival Days. On St. Stephens Day the Wren Boys go around gathering money and according to what they get they divide it. Long ago when the people would get the money they would go off to the Public Houses an drink, but nowadays it is different. The Wren Boys sing the following song:-"The wren, the wren, the king of all birds,
On St. Stephens Day she was caught in the furze
Although she is small her family is great
Call down the wren daddy and give here a treat."(leanann ar an chéad leathanach eile)
