    Old discontinued fairs
    28th March in Kilkenny for stripers
    1st May in Kilkenny for yearlings
    1st Sept. in Kilkenny for sheep.
    These fairs were discontinued and the business was done at the ordinary monthly fairs.
    There were two fairs held in Ballingarry, Co Tipperary in olden times but discontiuned owing to difficulties of transport.
    Fairs are held on the Fair Green.
    Tolls are paid at the rate of 2d. per head "Luck Money" is given when animals are sold 6d. for pigs - 2/6 out of cattle price. Agreement is shown by marking the beast - by clipping the hair on the hip or by marking with raddle.
    No halters or ropes are given away at the Fair. Michaelmas fair held in Callan was for geese and turkeys
