  1. There is an old house in Lukeswell. It is a small house. It is built of yellow clay. The walls are three feet wide. It is thatched with rushes. There is a half door on it to admit light and to keep out the fowl. There is a settle bed in the kitchen. The fire-place is in the gable-wall. There is a beam of bog-oak over the chimney. they call this the mantel. There are two small windows on it, with one pane of glass in each window. The floors are made of yellow clay, they tempered this clay down with their feet until it became solid. There is an old fashioned table in the kitchen with one leg, it is attached to the wall, and it can be lifted up or down whenever it is wanting. The roof is made of the wood of the old Church that was in Lukeswell. There is a bed in the room with a canopy over it.
