- A very old man told my father a story. My father told me the story. He said:- About two hundred years ago four Fiddown men went out to fish. It was very late in the night. They heared a cot coming up the river. They thought it was a Mooncoin boat. It came toward them. It was manned by two big men. It hit their boat and sank it. One of the men clung to a bit of timber. He looked around and he saw nothing. He was also drowned. Every night after that the people heard shouting and roaring. The "death-boat" was never seen again.
