It is situated on the side of a hill, in the middle of a big field.
Is is the shape of a ring with a height all round and another in the middle.
In this ring the fairies used to play long ago.
Here is a story about Howleys rath in Tobernabrone.
One day Johnny Howley went up to plough the field in which the rath is situated.
When he had ploughed the field he went into the rath to plough it inside.
But, no sooner had he the first sod ploughed than it fell back where it had been before.
That shows that it is fairyland indeed.
