In the vicinity of the church was a cemetry which was walled in some 35 years ago
The only inscribed stone in the graveyard bears the name of Matthew Duggan, and the year of his death is given as 1787
The patron saint of the old church is forgotten by the people.
The next church built in the district was built at Kilnaspeg. (This word evidently means the Bishop's Wood.)
This was a thatched church, and was replaced by another church, near the site of the old church. Time left its mark on this church also, and it was replaced by the present building in 1866. It was built by the V. Rev Canon Walsh.
The present parish priest effected many improvements in the church. He changed and improved the porch and organ loft. He got the church ceiled, put new seats in the church, replaced an old wooden altar by a beautiful marble(leanann ar an chéad leathanach eile)
