Fairy Forts
There are many lone trees standing on high ground or hillocks in Arigna district. Those trees are called fort bushes. They are generally heavy topped white thorn bushes of apparently great age. Some of them growing on circular mounds others just standing int he plain field.
It is believed locally that sickness or death will come to anyone who interferes with or cuts down fort. I often heard it stated that lights have been seen moving from fort to fort at midnight. Just a week ago I heard a man say that he saw several lights at one of those forts while he was working on a night shift twelve years ago.
About thirty years ago a very remarkable and mysterious sight was to be seen at tow forts in the locality. In the morning two fort bushes 1/4(leanann ar an chéad leathanach eile)- Bailitheoir
