Ar an leathanach seo

  1. Ornithology
Blackbirds, thrushs, robins, wrens, chaffinches, yellow-hammers, swallows, cuckoos, corn-crakes, magpies, green-binnets, polly-white throat, bull-finch, gold-finch, hawk, sparrows, willy-wag-tails, stares, owls, sea-gulls, plovers, wood-pegions, larks, snipes, rooks, kingfishers, and blackheads, are mostly found in this district.
The cuckoo, the swallow, and the corn crake emigrate to Switzerland, and other warm countries.
The blackbird, thrush, chaffinch, bull-finch and green binnet, build their nests in an ivy clad tree or a bush.
The robin, yellow-hammer, polly-white-throat, build their nests in a mossy bank.
The willy wag-tail and the kingfisher, build in a stoney bank by the river.
The magpie, rook and wood pigeon build their nests in a high tree. The corn crake has its nest in a meadow and the cuckoo lays its eggs in the tit-larks nest.
If the sea gulls fly inland, and swallows, and stares fly low it is the sign of rain.
The reason the robin has a red breast is because when Our Lord was dying, it went to pull the thorns out of His Head, and drops of blood fell on his breast, and it is red ever since.
