- The local fairs are held in Carrickmacross. Kingscourt, Shercock, and Bailieboro. The fair is held in the streets of the town. Sometimes buyers for pigs come to the houses. Muff fair is held once a year but only horses are sold there. Muff is situated about two or three miles from Bailieboro. Long ago Ballybay was very important for horses but it got less important since the coming of cars. Bailieboro is a good plant market as the land around it is too wet to grow plants. Carrickmacross is a good fair for pigs and cattle. The fair of Kingscourt is held on Tuesday. Kingscourt is a small town and in it pigs and cattle are sold. Horses are not sold in Kingscourt.
