1. The White Boys

   

   Roinn Roinn Postáil

   In the boundry between Cork and Kerry there is a cave on the side of the mountain. It cannot be reached except by a ladder. In this cave there lived three White Boys. This place where the cave was is called Leabaid Eoghain because one of their names was Eoghain. The White Boys were an army of men in themselves who lived in Ireland. Those three men used often make "raids" on the English "Settlers" who were in the Irish peoples land. They used take horses and cows and crops from them. They boasted that they never left an Englishman up the Glen. When the "Red Coats" as the English were called were passing along the road some spy told them where the White Boys were living. When the White Boys saw them coming they got their guns ready.
   They left the guns near the door so as to have them ready when the "Red Coats" would come up. It took the "Red Coats" a long time to come up because they had to get ladders. When the White Boys came for their guns they found they were useless because the house-keeper poured the hot water out of the potatoes into them. When the "Red Coats" came
